Corkboard Mac

Man, this give me some ideas...

Corkboard Mac

This old disassembled laptop still works! I have a couple old non working laptops that I've thought about doing something interesting with. This is kind of a cool idea. Knowing me though, I'd have to dress it up a little. Let's see, what do I have going on this weekend...

Twittering

I've been neglecting my blog lately and I had been doing so well! I got sort of addicted to Twitter and it seems all my writing juices have been filtered into it. I promise I'll try to do better, but I've also begun studying to become Leopard certified. Not a monumental task, but the tests are very detailed - like stuff I'd never need to know in the real world.

As for the Twitter thing, I'm not going to explain why. If you think it's a dumb idea, don't do it. If you're mildly interested, give it a try and either find yourself totally addicted or drop it like the dumb idea you initially thought it was.

I like it because it's like a constantly updated IM blog. There are a ton of interesting people, some even saying interesting things!

Welcome our new Lego Overlords

Boing Boing Gadgets posted some images of a couple potential new Lego sets - one of them is a throwback to the old space sets, which is awesome. I can only hope they actually make the other one - it's a tentacled, robot skull thing - see for yourself:

The above image is from Brickshelf - pure lego porn. Dang, there goes my day. I have spent many, many hours playing with Legos, both in my youth, and well, hey, I'm still young!

Multitool Mania

Call me what you will, Batman wannabe, geek extraordinaire, boy scout, super-stud, I have a thing for Multitools. Right now I have two or three of them lying around the house, but I've never been truly happy with any of them. The one I had been using broke recently, so I'm back to an old standby that's just too bulky. I've been eyeing a particular Leatherman model online, and this weekend in Lawrence, I actually got my hands on it. The Charge TTi

Leatherman Charge TTi

It's lightweight and yet more versatile than any multitool I've owned. It has a bit driver, which you can change out with one of many different bits, flathead, phillips, hex, etc. It's not cheap, on Amazon, it's around a hundred bucks, plus more for the extra bits. I had better start saving up my spare change!

Next up on the handy-dandy tool front, the Snow Toolbelt. Intended for skiers/snowboarders, I could see using this frequently.

Toolbelt

It's so incredibly handy, the tools are built right into the belt! It includes a #2 Phillips screwdirver, a #2 flathead screwdriver, and 1/2, 9/16, and 3/8-inch wrenches.

xkcd - Duty Calls

One of my daily reads is the geek web comic xkcd. It's definitely geek humor, but then, I guess I'm a geek - I get most of the jokes. Yesterday's comic made it's way across the blogosphere so I figured I'd post is here too - it cracks me up!
