Needles, Needles, and More Needles

Although my cancer was very minor, I need a scan every year or so to make sure nothing comes back. It’s that time of year again, but unlike last year, when I had to be off the Synthroid for two weeks (and feel like utter shit) before I could get scanned, I’m getting an injection of Thyrogen. I’m not sure how it works exactly, but it makes it so that I don’t have to be off the Synthroid in order to get an accurate scan. This involves an excruciatingly painful drive into Johnson County almost every day this week. Two days for the Thyrogen injection (what a way to start your day – with a shot in the ass!), One day for the radioactive iodine injection (no, I won’t be glowing, unfortunately), and then on Friday I go get scanned. Plus two blood tests during the week. Did I mention that I hate needles? I know, who doesn’t.

I’ll be sure to post the results of the test when I get them – I should know something within a couple weeks.
