We’re Moving AGAIN!

Yeah. We just did this ten months ago. In fact, I did it like 6 months before that, and just a year before that… Well, this will be the last time for a long time. I love this space, loft living is great, except for the neighbors. The problem with living in a converted warehouse is that nothing is sound proofed. Most of the time, people have enough respect for one another to not be too annoying, but when you get young people, especially guys, they just don’t give a shit. The guy upstairs right now has a dog, which is fine, we have two. But he’s seldom there and the poor thing whines, barks, and even loses control of it’s bladder. Thin ceilings = urine raining down on us – not pleasant, especially during dinner. We have complained, the landlords have done what they can, and will kick him out if it doesn’t get better, but we’re tired of even having to complain. The first people up there, who moved in after us, were two young guys, just out college, still in frat party mode. Yelling drunks at 4 in the morning on weeknights. They didn’t last long. And we weren’t the only ones to complain. We bear the brunt of the current situation, since he’s right above us. But, as I said, we’re tired of having to complain.

We hadn’t really decided to start looking, but I saw a sign for this place on a Friday, we looked at it the following Monday, and now we’re signing a lease next Monday, a week later. It’s great. It’s a three-story, 19th century parish house for the church next door, which houses a gallery, a chiropractor, a Buddhist temple, and a document restoration business – who happen to be good friends of mine, as well as clients. Nice dark wood everywhere, very nicely restored, we’re excited to move, and dreading it at the same time. Maura’s studio will be on the top floor – it’s a large open space with great light from the windows. Anyway, we have a month to pack and get stuff moved, it’s just a couple miles down the road from where we are now, which is almost more annoying…

  1. That sounds like a great place! I know what you mean about it being annoying, though. All that fuss and bother when you feel like you could just schlep it down the street. It’s just as much trouble as if you moved out of state.
