I just found out last night that a good friend of mine has several blood clots in his leg. Some small and not so serious, but some very large and in very bad places. Basically it sounds like a 10% chance that one could dislodge and go to his lungs and kill him at any moment. I have never been very good with death. In talking to him last night, he’s got a sense of humor about it, but it’s mostly a front, and he knows it. He hasn’t slept much since finding out. He was my best man and my wife’s previous boyfriend, odd story… We both talked to him last night with the wonder of three way calling and it was odd, but I’m glad I did talk to him. He’s a cynic and an atheist and doesn’t want to quit smoking, but he may consider it, since this blood clot thing will probably be a lifelong thing, if he survives the next two weeks. He’s on blood thinners and frankly, the doctors don’t know much. They told him to stay off his feet as much as possible, take the drugs, and quit smoking. Heavy, heavy news.
