Klaatu Barada Nikto

I feel the urge to write, but all I have are random thoughts from the last few days.

Everything I know about Life, I learned from my dogs: Our dogs, Ben and Lucy, have very different personalities. They like to play tug of war in the morning while we have our coffee. I noticed something the other morning though, that I think can be turned into some sort of lesson. Ben loves the games, he plays to play, Lucy love the game too, but she plays to win. Ben is the bigger dog, so he can always win, if he chooses to, but he always gives Lucy a chance. When he does win, he brings the toy right back to Lucy, to keep on playing. When he lets Lucy win, she runs off with the toy. I love both my dogs, but I think I prefer Ben’s way of thinking. The Game of Life: it’s not about winning, it’s about playing.

I’ve started reading Neil Gaiman’s Sandman comics again recently. I love them, but they are very dark. They’re starting to invade my dreams. I’ve been having the kind of dreams that you slowly become aware that it’s a dream, only so that you can wake yourself up to escape it. Nightmares, I guess, but subtle, I’m not being chased or threatened or anything. Just really morbid and dark.

That’s it for now. I just wanted to get a few things out of my head. Thanks for listening!

  1. I think its important to learn, at some point in life, that its more important to play just to play. The fact that Ben could show you in such a way that playing is more important than winning… well, that’s just great. It totally makes all that poop-scooping and tons of kibble worth the investment.
